The Minnesota Humanities Center is working in partnership with the African American Achievement Council and The Sherwood Foundation to assist OPS in their goal to provide all students with the high-quality instruction needed to prepare for life. To help the Omaha Public Schools meet their standard of excellence, the Humanities Center will coordinate cultural proficiency professional development trainings for twelve OPS schools. These trainings will focus on the histories, traditions, cultural, and educational experiences of African American students and the cultural and educational experiences of African immigrant and refugee students.
This type of instruction will focus on
cross curricula inclusion of African American and African histories, traditions, cultural and educational experiences across grade levels
